Our Home. I wish!

Here’s the place we stayed in Hawaii.  So nice I felt out of place!

More of the pics.

You may have perused the gallery already, but for those who haven’t and those who wondered what they were looking at…here’s a few more with commentary.

Opaekaa Falls

Opaeka'a Falls - The house at the top of the falls is actually for sale. $4.25 Million and it's YOURS!

Wailua Falls - You might recognize it as the waterfall from Fantasy Island.

Wailua Falls - You might recognize it as the waterfall from "Fantasy Island".

Of all the waterfalls on the island, the ones below were my favorite.  These falls are about 3 miles from Hanalei, where the picture was taken.  If you look at the full size picture in the gallery, you’ll see a few baby waterfalls to each side of the big one in the middle.  The top of this mountain gets over 400 inches of rain a year, it’s one of the wettest spots on earth.

We made it back!

I must say, if you ever get the chance to go to Kauai…GO!  Andrea and I both had a fantastic time.  We were there for eight days and seven nights and at the end of it we STILL weren’t ready to leave.  It’s amazing how beautiful it was everywhere you looked.

The island was bigger than I thought it would be.  Only one hiway went around the island, except for about 10 miles.  So if you want to get from the north side to the west side, it’s about a 2 hour drive clear around the island to get there.  The island is only about 35 miles wide, but we managed to rack up almost 800 miles on our rental Jeep.

Here’s a few highlights.  Check out all the pictures in my Picasa Gallery.

Here we are just getting off the plane waiting for our bags. We were enamored right from the start as we walked through the airport, and everything is open to the outside air. There were some fences and gates to keep people from bypassing security areas and the like, but no matter where you are, you’re breathing fresh ocean breeze!

From there we hopped on a shuttle to the car rental place.  Which was hidden away in a little industrial area.  We’d never have found it ourselves.  From there, Andrea’s dream came true when they handed us the keys to our Jeep for the week.  She’s now for sure she wants one of her own!

Andrea in heaven.

Then we headed up the coast for a beautiful drive to Princeville on the North Shore.  We took lots of videos, but it’ll take some time to get ’em uploaded so look for that post later.  As a wedding gift, Andrea’s Dad let us use his timeshare.  It was a real classy place.  I was quickly feeling out of place!

We got all checked in.  Took a moment to take everything in, and then hopped in the suits and headed for the beach!  But more on that later.  It’s 2 AM (only 9 PM Hawaii time!) right now and should get to bed.  Jet lag sucks!

To be continued…

Well, this is it…

My last little bit of internet time before we take off. Our flight leaves 8:30 AM tomorrow morning. (I’m excited!) And we’ll get back around noon on the next Friday. We’ll have lots of pictures and videos and lots to talk about, I’m sure!

Talk to y’all soon!

Another birthday on the books.

Had a pretty outstanding birthday.  Laid back, the way I like it.  Andrea got me a set of car ramps, a trouble light, and Final Fantasy Tactics: A2!  All excellent gift choices!  Thanks to Mom and Grandma for gifts as well!

I spent the cooler hours of the morning out waxing the car and polishing all the chrome.  I SEROUSLY don’t understand why chrome when out of style.  So damn sexy when it shines!  Then once it got friggin 100 degrees outside, I came in and played some Guild Wars, and dinked around on the internet.  Ran a couple errands and genrally just took it easy.

Excellent birthday in my opinion.  One of the best!

We’re officially unpacked!

Well I took my day off today to get the rest of our crap out of boxes.  I did a lot of cleaning and found a place for a lot of stuff.  Everything else is being stored in the basement.  So nice to have a place to put that stuff!  Here’s some pics of the inside.  It’s very retro, and the walls still need paint.  Hopefully that happens soon.  Again, gotta get together with the landlord.

The Living Room:

Since we got rid of the couch, we pulled out the K-State camp chair.  It works well enough!

Kitchen:

Soo much storage!  We have cupboards that don’t even have anything in them!  Plus I got my old Zenith tube radio working.

The Bathroom:

A little small, but bigger than our last bathroom, believe it or not!

Spare Room:

A.K.A. Andrea’s Jam Room. There’s TONS of storage in here. The two walls you can’t see in the picture have big closets built in to them.

Computer Room:

The new place

It’s nothing to brag about, but here’s some pictures of the new place. It’s definetly an older place. Looks like it was remodeled…somewhere around 1954. But it’s got lots of room, lots of storage, and seems to be a fairly well-built house. The rent is significantly cheaper than Ogden was. Almost half the price, and almost double the space. That is if you DON’T count the unfinished basement.

It needs some paint on the trim real bad. And the carport could use some new wood in places. The landlord is supposed to get us the supplies, so that should work out. Just have to keep harassing her until she does.

Here’s how it looked when we moved in:

I trimmed up the plants and trees and I think it already looks a world better. But man I GOTTA get some paint on that trimwork. Hideous.

Hopefully we stay here for two years or so, then maybe buy something. We’ll see where the wind blows. All I know is I’m sick of moving!

New Job

Well, I have a cool new job! It’s a REAL job too! I’ll be this accountant type person at CPI, Qualified Plan Consultants. They offered me a job in the Trust Accounts doing Retirement Funds, which they said was the area that dealt most with accounting stuff.

I’m not really sure what I’ll be doing, but I’ll be able to fill everybody in after my first day this coming up Monday!

I’ve never had a ‘real’ job, and I’ve never had a job where I got paid double digits an hour! That’s right! I’ll be making $10/hr! Yay me!

Wish me luck on my first day at my real job! 🙂

Plugging along…

Well I’m officially married!  There’s more to do now than I thought!  Gotta get an official copy of the marriage license before Andrea can get her name changed.  And have to do that before we can add her to my bank account.  Still need to get her ring soldiered together.  Should have done that BEFORE the wedding, but that never happened.

The job is going good so far.  Good people here.  Still feeling a bit out of the loop, but hopefully that will fade quickly.  Right now I have a lot of time here and not a whole lot to do.  So I’ve been prepping the show out as much as I can today.  It’s amazing what you can put together when you don’t have production to do or music to schedule.  Eventually I’ll be doing some web stuff and maybe some phone sales (oh yay).  We’ll see.  I’m sure it’ll be plenty busy before long.

Heck I just today got the GAS turned on finally.  For some reason it never got turned on when I transferred it, so they’re supposed to be by today.  Spit baths the past couple days haven’t been cutting it.  I need a hot shower!

Still no internet for now.  Maybe next month.  I have some catching up to do, but getting paid for my unused vacation a Platinum really helped out.  And luckily we didn’t have to put any deposits down on utilities.  So hopefully after Andrea gets a job and gets her first paycheck, we’ll be back online.  She has a second interview with a Financial company on Thursday here in town, by the way.  Wish her luck!

That’s about it for the update.  Hope all is well for everyone!

Gonna be out for a while.

Welp, I’m finishing up my last show on Power Hits.  Then it’s moving and wedding time.  Might be awhile before I have internet again, as things have been REAL tight and I need to build my savings back up.  But hopefully I can check in once in a while from my new work.  I’ll try to get pics of the wedding and the new place up as soon as I can.

Thanks to everybody that’s helped me through this chapter of my life!  See ya all soon!
