You may have perused the gallery already, but for those who haven’t and those who wondered what they were looking at…here’s a few more with commentary.
Opaeka'a Falls - The house at the top of the falls is actually for sale. $4.25 Million and it's YOURS!
Wailua Falls - You might recognize it as the waterfall from "Fantasy Island".
Of all the waterfalls on the island, the ones below were my favorite. These falls are about 3 miles from Hanalei, where the picture was taken. If you look at the full size picture in the gallery, you’ll see a few baby waterfalls to each side of the big one in the middle. The top of this mountain gets over 400 inches of rain a year, it’s one of the wettest spots on earth.

On the northeast side of the island, not too far from where we stayed was a really cool lighthouse. Relics from the past like this I just fall in love with. The mechanism that turned the lens is like the oversized hanging weights you’d see in a grandfather clock. Keepers had to rewind the mechanism every 3 1/2 hours, 365 days a year.
The area is also a wildlife refuge home to tons of birds called “red footed boobies”. Ha ha! From here we also saw a sea turtle, and caught a quick glimpse of some dolphins.

There were all sorts of choices for food. We had a little bit of everything from Taco Bell (which was about the same price as back home) to some really nice places we sure couldn’t afford to eat at all the time! One of our favorite hangouts was Nawiliwili Harbor. There were several open air restaurants there. We stopped by Duke’s Canoe Club and I had some fish tacos, and Andrea had a burger and a tasty drink called a Lavaflow. Beautiful views, and very relaxing!

Back on the north side of the island was another nice beach at Haena. We came out here late one afternoon caught a few rays, waded in the small waves, and caught an awesome sunset over the hills.

B-E-A-UTIFUL! Actually beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe it I’d say breath taking, and that’s just the pictures! I’m sure it was amazing being there. Love the caption on the last picture “Just God, letting us lease some early time in Heaven.”
P.S. Yes I understand the “whatevers” now and have begun taking on the attitude myself… a little. Once in a while I get some hope and then I ask myself “did you just start working here yesterday?” and I’m back.
