I can finally quit my day job.

Because by golly I’ve got one.

I think pretty much everybody’s already in the know, but today I started my new job at work. I’m now the prestigious “Assistant Program Director/Music Director.” So I go work earlier, and get off earlier. That’s really the only big difference compared to what I’ve been doing. I’m still scheduling the music for 97.5. That’s almost fun. But if you’re ever heading through the area, I’m on 2p-6p Monday – Friday, instead of nights.

So there ya go!

Let the Games Begin

I’m a happy man. For one, it’s almost football season. But even better, it’s looking like I might be able to sit in on all the K-State home games this year.

The radio station is going to be hosting tailgate parties from KSU Stadium this year and all the staff gets tickets to the games. Boo yea! My record for attending games in one season is… well one. Hopefully I can make that six this season!

Seriously though.

I work pretty hard at my job to let the people above me know that if they give me a task they can be assured it’ll be completed on time and to a high standard. Ironically as my standards go up, theirs go down.

It’s gotten to the point where major pieces of production are being given to me at the last minute that are due the next day, and have no bearing or direction. Now I’m all for creative freedom when it comes to my work. But I’m not all for having to redo what I just stayed an hour late for again because so and so decided it wasn’t important enough to leave me a note as to what they wanted done.

Why is it that people think that they can pull crap like this, and as long as you don’t complain, that means you don’t mind it. I do last minute crap at work for one obvious reason. I’m the last person to leave and things have to be ready for tomorrow. Abuse that fact and prepare to be suprised when crap your responsible for isn’t done the next day. Just because you write my name on your work doesn’t mean I assume your responsibility, ya know?

Anyway, hopefully a couple people at work tomorrow will have some intersting questions to answer after I had to finally call the General Manager of the radio station at 7:45 pm to get the information I needed. He he.

Rant for the month now over. If you have a related work/school type story to share, by all means! Post here.

Getting Rediculious

This has been the third day in a row that I have had to re-cut a commercial that I had already previously cut the day before. A couple times I admit it was my fault. But sometimes I wonder how they’d think that I magically know words like Okuma are actually pronounced “ah-CUME-uh”.

But enough with the complaining, my radio should be here tomorrow. I’ll impatiently wait for that instead. =)

This was weird.

So I’m in Cellular One getting my new phone activated today, right? Well I’m sitting there letting the lady do her thing and the radio in the background is playing the Big Kat. It’s playing one of my commercials. She looked at me and chuckled, and said, “Crazy commercials.” The whole time, I could tell she had no idea I was the guy in the commercial.

That was a new experience. I guess my radio voice is different than my regular voice. =)
