It keeps going…and going…

I don’t know which would be a cooler picture.  This one, or the 220,000.  But I didn’t want to waste 0.1 miles worth of gas @ 3.18 a gallon just to snap a picture.  Ha ha!

Going to re-do the breaks this weekend and put on all new belts.  Then next month it’s new shocks and springs and  pretty much just odds and ends from there.  Just tryin’ fix things faster than they break!

It is finished.

It’s hard to believe, but I think I’m done. I had one last marathon weekend. And I couldn’t have done it without Andrea’s help! So without delay, the new look of the Toronado!

Click for larger pictures and to go to the gallery.

Here’s what it looked like the day I bought it:

Here’s how she looks today!

These were taken at 2am. So if the sun comes out this afternoon. I hope to get some nicer (prettier) pictures.

The final hours…

Well, this is it… My last day of employment.  OK, honestly my last day of employment was August 31.  It remains to be seen if I’ll get paid for the past couple of weeks.  That’s ok, I’ll just sit quietly and eat my serving of guilt.  Maybe I am just a cynical person (ya think?) but something doesn’t seem right.

So, after this job is over I have a few goals.  Spoil Bryson to the fullest extent, take a road trip with Duane and roll all the change in my K-State coin bank.  Oh, yeah, and get another job!

The worst part of all of this will be getting used to NOT having money in my pocket.  Waitressing spoiled me.  I’d leave every day with twenty or more dollars in cash.  Shoot, some days when I worked double shifts I made over a hundred bucks in tips!  I see a lifestyle change in my future!  haha

Starting the New Life

Well, I recently made a HUGE life decision. I am wanting to go into the IT business for computers, and K-State doesn’t exactly offer anything specifically for that. I was getting fed up with all of the computer programming classes that I was taking and some that I was having to retake. So, I decided to drop out and go to work full-time for this semester. I just hated wasting money in a program that I didn’t like. It would take me longer to graduate and more money, since I wasn’t interested in the classes, and eventually would probably have to retake them.

I am currently looking for some kind of job in that field around here so I can gain some experience and move on to bigger and better things. I might be going to the technical college around here, but it just depends on whether or not I can get a job. I am looking to study for some certifications on my own this semester so my resume can look a little better.

It’s going to be tough, but I wouldn’t have made this decision if I wasn’t in it for the long haul. I know that people are going to judge me and tell me that it was a bad idea to drop out of K-State, but I’ll just have to deal with it because this is MY decision. All I really want from everyone is a “Good luck” or “I support you” kinda stuff. I just want everyone to understand and listen to my explanations too.

Here’s my plan: I’m working full time this semester to save up money, getting a couple of certifications, finding a job in my field, going to tech college next semester (if I have to), and just moving on with my life and stop wasting money in something I don’t want to do.

IT’s Official!

I knew IT was coming and I wondered how I would take IT.  Maybe I’m in shock or denial, but IT hasn’t gotten me down…yet!

‘IT’ is my impending unemployment.  The bosses officially told us the bar is closing down in a few weeks.  When IT does happen I will be among that percentage of unemployed we hear about on the news.

I’m not overly concerned because “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough and, doggone it, people like me!  (Is that how Stuart Smalley puts it?)  Surely something will turn up.  Until it does I think I’ll enjoy being a full-time Grammy.  Think Jamie and Bryan can handle that?

Our humble abode.

Here’s pics of the outside of the place. Just finshed up the mowing so it looks halfway decent. GOTTA get those friggin trees trimmed though! BLECH!

The back yard is nice and big, but it needs some work too. I’m going to try to get those stupid ruts out and get grass growing there again. And the previous tenants had a dog pen smack dab in the middle of the back yard, so I’m going to move those concrete slabs and try to get grass growing there as well. Where the cars are parked in the back is going to be a small little driveway off the alley. Sometime this summer the landlord is going to bring some gravel in for the driveway up front, and enough to make my little drive way in back.

All in all it’s not a bad place. It needs some TLC and it’s small but we’ve got some nice space to work with. So I’m happy so far. The inside is seriously a mess right now, so I’m off to organize and unpack and when I at least get close I’ll post some pictures of inside. To be honest, I’m too embarrassed to show it off right now! So I’m off to change that!

Past my bedtime again.

I know everyone is waiting pics of the places and is wanting to know how the move is going. It’s just been so incredibly busy since we moved in and everything is such a mess that there’s nothing to take pictures of execpt piles of boxes and things. The place is about the same square footage as our apartment but has an extra bedroom. So the rooms are a bit smaller, but there’s and extra room for whatever we decide to do with it. Right now it’s just piled with crap as we figure out where to put everything.

I’ll try to snap some outside pictures tomorrow after I get everything mowed. I have some work to do trimming trees eventually, and I want to do some landscaping around the front of the house sometime. I’m pretty clueless when it comes to that green thumb stuff though.

All in all it’s going all right. Just slower than I’d hoped. I’m getting used to a new morning show, a new Program Director that likes to have long meetings making for longer days for me. And between the 4th of July remotes, going back to get the cat and everything else, I just now got enough time to sit down and write a quick blog without sacrificing precious sleep time. I’m anxious to get back on a regular schedule, whether it’s getting up at 4am, or 10am, or whatever. Just kinda running ragged right now.

All things considered there’s a lot of things going on right now, and somehow I’m getting everything done albeit at a bit slower pace. So I can’t complain too much. I’m able to balance it all so far and not be pulled under by it. Just another donkey chasing a carrot.

Meet Daisy!

She is our new doggy. Her kennel card said that she was a daschund, but we really think that she’s a miniature. She just looks a lot smaller than one’s I’ve seen before. It didn’t take her long to get used to the house, which was really nice. She had a few accidents on her first day, but I think that’s just because she was nervous.

The one thing that surprised me was that Matt actually liked her a lot. You know, he’s a cat man, so I thought it would take a while for him to get used to Daisy being around. Especially when he doesn’t have Nala back yet. He’s been taking her out and everything.

Oh well, I’ll stop talking about her and show you some pictures. Here she is!

Finally found a house!

Well after several houses being rented to other people before we get a chance, we finally put a deposit down on a house in Ogden. It’s a little more expensive but it’s worth it. It’s a 3 bedroom, but like Biebs guessed earlier the third bedroom is more like a big closet! Ha ha. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a nice quiet little place. And it’ll be nice to not be apartment living.

It’ll be a little while before I can get some pictures. There were still folks living there, so I didn’t want to run around taking pictures of their stuff. So you’ll have to wait until we move in July to get some pics. Thanks for everybody who said a prayer for us! It’s glad to finally have the weight of looking for a new place lifted.
