Let’s start a pool.
Well there hasn’t been too much posting lately. Partly because of how busy I’ve been trying to get the car going again, and all the traveling. (I’m going to Sabetha tomorrow too!) But mostly I think I’m being too picky in the relevancy of what I post. I was looking back through the archives and there’s a lot of posts that are just quick little thoughts, or small little moments of the day, that are just a joy to go back and read. It brings back the memory of something that would have been otherwise forgotten.
So starting today I’m going to post AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, no matter how insignificant. I already know its not going to last. Haha. I have a resurgence of posting for a few days, then it always falls off. So I’m going say 17 days of posting without missing one (including today). That’s at least a post a day until December 9th. I can do it!
It should make it more encouraging to visit the site, but more than anything a couple years from now I can look back at the posts and say, “OH yeah! I forgot about that.” Ha ha!
Fiasco
What an under used word. Its so fun to say. It just rolls off the tongue. Unfortunately the experiences associated with the word aren’t as enjoyable.
I’ve been working on the brakes on my car. Changing brake pads, and new rotors as well. The good news is, the shudder that I used to get when I pressed the brakes is gone. The bad news is, I can’t get the stupid brake light in my car to go off. I’m just about at my wits end. It’ll be going on day four of messing with this. Gonna try to bleed the brakes and master cylinder one last time. If that doesn’t work. I’m going to tear the whole damn thing apart and start over!
More as it develops.
11.13.07New Mario Kart Wii Pics!
Man, I gotta get me one of those Wiis!

That looks a lot like a Mario Kart 64 track! Color me excited!

More pics can be found here!
Long lost older sibling.
Here some pictures we snapped of the Toronado we saw for sale while we were down scoping out the wedding place. Creepy how close the colors are! When I painted my car, I never would have guessed there’d be another one out there almost the same color!
The one up front is an ’83 and was for sale. (Probably would have bought it if I had the cash!)
Not that my car is rare or anything, but just crazy to find one THAT similar!
11.9.07It keeps going…and going…

I don’t know which would be a cooler picture. This one, or the 220,000. But I didn’t want to waste 0.1 miles worth of gas @ 3.18 a gallon just to snap a picture. Ha ha!
Going to re-do the breaks this weekend and put on all new belts. Then next month it’s new shocks and springs and pretty much just odds and ends from there. Just tryin’ fix things faster than they break!
11.5.07Yay, Me!
I looked through my notes that I had made on my scratch pad for last weekend. Sure enough, I had written down that the winery was open 10a.m. to 7 p.m. But, I thought I’d better check the website just to make sure. Yep, it was down as being open at 10a.m. to 7p.m. on Sundays!
Isn’t it odd how the mind can play tricks on us? Maybe you young people don’t notice it as much. But I honestly thought I had imagined the extended hours! It’s so nice to know I’m not losing my mind! haha
11.1.07Trick or Treat-ing Vultures
So Halloween has come and gone this year. And the Scrooge that I am, I decided I didn’t want to hand out any Halloween candy this year. Its not that I don’t love the kids, its just that I didn’t really feel like sitting by the front door for 3 hours waiting for kids to show up. So I made sure when I got home I didn’t turn the porch light on so these Trick or Treaters didn’t get the wrong idea. After all, I didn’t even have any candy in the entire house to give away!
So I get home from work yesterday evening around 7:00 or so and head out back the let the dog out of her pen and run around a bit before I let her in the house. After I get settled in a bit I flip the back porch light on so I can go get the dog’s dishes and let the dog on. I grab the bowls and head back in to clean all the leaves out. No longer than 3 minutes later there’s a knock at the back door! Trick or Treaters!
“Are you handing out candy?” They ask.
“Uhh…well I didn’t think you’d see the back porch light,” I said, a little miffed that they had the audacity to even ask. Even these kids knew there was something a little off about going to someone’s back door asking for Halloween candy or else they wouldn’t even have had to ask. But with a smile on my face I just said, “I don’t have any candy but let me see what I can dig up.”
I recanted my childhood memories of digging through my Halloween candy knowing full well that every kid remembers exactly where they got the best treat that night, and the worst treat. I was bound and determined not to be the worst treat. Ritz crackers? No! That won’t work! Sugar, I need something with lots of sugar! The clock was ticking and the dog outside on her leash was getting more insane with each passing moment these strangers were on the back steps. Suddenly I spotted it. It might actually work! A box POP-TARTS®! Please, please, please let there be two pouches of pastry goodness inside the box... Victory! But what would the kids think about Pop-Tarts® as their treat? Wait a second…I don’t care, they shouldn’t have come knocking in the first place!
“Ohh COOL! Pop-Tarts®! Thanks!” they said.
Mission accomplished and lesson learned. If you don’t have something to give away, don’t let a single outside light burn on your house. Don’t even light a candle on a windy Halloween night outside your house, for the Trick or Treaters are waiting in the bushes for their chance to strike.

I finally watched 300
Okay, so I’m a little late to the show on this one. To be honest based on the previews, I wasn’t all that interested in seeing it. I like Greek and Roman history, but the previews sold the movie as endless violence and blood and guts. I didn’t see much substance in the previews and I’m not big on the gore. Andrea wanted to see it though and started watching it, and I must say I was rather impressed. While the violence was obviously a big part of the film, but the presentation was surprisingly artistic.
Some may have seen the movie, some maybe haven’t so I don’t want to do a plot summary, but rather point out some misconceptions I had about the film. The whole show is basically an almost mythical re-telling of a story. Small little details impressed me, like the Spartans slaying these thousands of Persians. Blood is obviously flying everywhere but the Spartans never get a drop on them. The way the Persian leader, Xerxes walks on the backs of his servants as if they’re stairs as he steps down from his throne visually symbolizes his treatment of the Persian people. All the little nuances of the movie (for me) are what made the movie. The dialogue is exceptional as well, much of which I assume is taken directly, or based on the book.
I only wish the previews would have better explained the need for the story of the 300, rather than focus on the gore. But I guess when you’re trying to get people to buy tickets, violence sells.
Who’s ready for winter?
Well it looks like my prediction of snow by Halloween won’t be fufilled. It’s been damn near a heat wave around here lately. Almost hit 80 here today! But we’re gonna get slammed, and when it happens I say bring it on!
I really don’t think I’ll mind the snow. Especially now that I’m not living in Manhattan where everyone drives like an idiot on a nice day. I’m lucky to see a car or two on my way out of Ogden, so hopefully I can avoid any collisions this year. I’m just looking forward to having a house to decorate with Christmas lights this year. Sitting by the window, watching the snow fall drinking a warm cup of cocoa. I just love winter.
