1 Year Old
Lucas recently turned one. Instead of getting professional pictures done, we bought a nice camera. I wanted to see what we could do ourselves. We don’t have much for a studio. Still not enough light without a flash indoors. I’ll have to get more experimental. And somebody wasn’t liking his outfit too much, so the photoshoot was shortlived.

I can finally talk about it

We just launched a new radio station at work on Wednesday. I’ve been working on it for quite a while, but haven’t been able to say anything. It’s pretty cool because they kinda just left it up to me to go make a radio station. Not that I’m really qualified to do such things, but I gave it a shot, and it’s at least a radio station by definition. Whether it’s a good radio station will remain to be seen.
I had a lot of freedom. Infact I designed the logo for the station myself. I hope I don’t come across as much of a bragger on here, but I am pretty proud of it. The logo, and the station itself. And for probably the second time ever, my artwork is on display somewhere in real life, not just the interwebs! I designed the the banner for the electronic billboard we’re leasing for the next few months.
I have a show on the station 3pm – 8pm Monday through Saturday, so feel free to tune in if you are around. We aren’t streaming yet, but we will be next month.

While she was gone, Luke and I wanted to put a smile on her face when she got home.

Sunshine and Rain
It’s been incredibly dry around here lately. Probably 3 or more months since any significant rainfall and 100+ every day. So these rain clouds were a welcome site! These pictures came from about a week ago, but we also got a nice steady shower this morning!

Rants of Two Old Dudes: Episode 4
I think this was our best show yet. Curiosity is on Mars! Mr. Carver joins us once again as we talk too much about Zombies, not enough about games, and just the right amount about beer.

I Voted
I tweeted earlier today that I voted, but I had to violate one of my moral rules to do so. You see this is the primary election where the parties decide who they’re going to put on the ballot in November. Being in rural Kansas, Republican is the party of prominence, so pretty much everyone running for office of any kind is a republican.
My moral delimma is that I don’t really believe in the two party system. I believe in electing the right person for the job whether they’re a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Man, Woman, Black, White, etc. For that reason I’ve never affiliated with any party.
But when it comes to primary elections, you can’t just vote in any primary. Democrats have an open primary, meaning you don’t have to be an democrat to vote there. But republicans have a closed primary, therefore you can only vote if you’re a member of the “club”. My situation was such that there were some pretty important local positions up, which were pretty much going to be decided in the Republican primary as there would be no one running against the winner in November. So in order to have a voice in these selections I chose to declare Republican for now and vote for the guys I felt could best serve my area.
I’ve always been a big proponent of paying attention and making informed voting decisions on the local level, because these are the people that will have possibly the most direct impact on your daily life. These guys are the reason I can’t buy beer after 8PM, or that I haven’t been able to use my fire pit I built yet because of a burn ban. Seems like piddly stuff to some, but even though it might be less “important” on the grand scale, it has a more tangible effect than any president’s foreign policy or “jobs bill”.
So I guess as of today I’m a Republican, if only on paper.
Guild Wars 2 – World vs World
I was trying to explain this in my last post about the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend. This video does a far better job of explaining what WvW is….. awesome.

08.1.12Playing with the camera
We got a fun new toy. Wanted to play around with all the different settings. We went out in the backyard and took some pictures of the sky. They aren’t perfect, but we’re just learning. Should have set a timer, and need to focus better.

Luke’s Day
Luke had a different day today. Mom had a job today so Luke got up and got to roll around in the basement of the radio station at the embroidery shop down there. Then it was swim lessons, and home. After the sun set we played around in the driveway and crawled on Daddy’s car.
