I thought this was a camera, not a camcorder! Why do you need to record in HD on the same camera you’re getting 21.1 mp with? Wouldn’t that just eat up your memory?
Oh well, I guess I’m just weird like that. It would be cool to have, but wouldn’t know what to use it on in Kansas. Plus, I never got to the price, which I probably wouldn’t want to know in the first place. I know that 7.1 mp cameras are going for $100 or so at walmart. So, that gives you a little idea of what it MIGHT be.

Or trying at least. I played around with photoshop and tried to add some color to Grandma’s old house. It’s my first attempt and it seems to have turned out okay…but still a little surreal. I think I can do better on my next one. Still kinda neat. Makes it a little easier to imagine what it may have looked like to stand there and take that picture. I had to guess on some of the colors. Like the true color of the car. Could have been green for all I know, I went with red as it is what I imagined it to be, and is a popular color of the era.
I had some free time to burn, what can I say?

Who needs Windows?
Here’s my new desktop. It’s nothing fancy, just a pretty much plain installation of Ubuntu Linux. It’s been working out great so far though! Biebs donated a hard drive, and I installed Ubuntu on it a few days ago. And since then, I haven’t even had the need to fire up Windows XP!
It does have a few issues, it won’t run Windows games without a whole lot of convincing, but I have got Guild Wars running almost as good as it does on XP. For surfing the web, photo editing, music, and just about everything else Ubuntu does just as good a job, if not better, than XP! Did I mention it’s FREE?

Lots of fun times…for a geek like me.
Well as posted earlier, we got the Wii this weekend. Andrea has already worked up some mighty sore muscles from hitting home runs in Wii Sports. I’ve been sitting around for hours creating Miis of everyone I can think of. I’ve been really enjoying the new Mario Kart, though I’m a little dissapointed they dumbed down the powerslides this time around. But still a blast none-the-less. I am still favoring the old controller over the tilt method you can use with the Wiimote. Started a little bit on Mario Galaxy, but haven’t gotten very far yet.
Biebs hooked me up with an old 160GB hard drive he had laying around, so installed Ubuntu on it and have been having great success so far. Still have a little bit of work to do getting Guild Wars to run in Linux, but I’m confident I’ll get there. It’s my first step to shedding Windows completely on my next computer I build, hopefully sometime next year!
So lots of geeky stuff to play around with, and as always not enough time for it all. If only I could get by on like 2 hours of sleep!
09.6.08We put it off long enough…
Now I can do fun stuff like this!
We finally broke down and bought a Wii. We were in the store today and I saw one on the shelf. I almost didn’t tell Andrea about it, because I knew I was weak and she’d talk me into it. But she walked over while I was looking and saw it. Next thing you know we’re walking out with a Wii, Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, and an extra controller. Ha ha!
It’s been fun, sitting there, creating Miis, getting the WiiConnect24 up and running. I’m really excited about the virtual console, although I’m going to wait a while to download any games, as I think we’ve spent enough money as it is!
So if anybody wants to come over and play Nintendo, just let me know. Now I’ve got all of ’em!
09.4.08Damn you, El Monterey!
One of my cheap food staples is El Monterey burritos. You could once upon a time get a 10 pack for less than $3.00. I probably shouldn’t, but I eat them 3 at a time. Anyway…they’ve been getting more and more expensive along with everything else in this world. But we’re in the store the other day, and I noticed they were selling for $2.95! What a deal, I thought!
Well today, I’m pulling the package out of the frezzer like I’ve done countless times before. It seems a little more compact than usual. The bastards didn’t lower the price! They just shorted me 2 burritos! They could have at least been straight with me. You know like a big banner on the package that says “Now with 20% LESS Burritos! Arriba!” Personally I’d be less offended if I were paying more for 10 burritos. I just feel like they tried to pull a fast one on me.
Let me tell you, El Monterey. Your burritos aren’t cheap enough, or good enough, that I can’t find a more faithful quick eats companion. Quick rice has my back.
