Tuesday evening, Mom and I headed to Wichita to see the baby specialist. The appointment was Wednesday early morning, so we figured we would go up the night before and find the place, since we didn’t exactly know where it was.
We found it no sweat, and actually made it to the office an hour before my appointment! We got in really quick! Probably a good 30 minutes before my scheduled time! Then we waited… and waited… and waited some more.
Finally the nurse poked her head into the room and said, “The doctor isn’t here, we don’t know where she is. She’s probably at the hospital. She’ll be here as soon as she can.” Well, great! So Mom and I stand at the window, gawk at idiots running in the rain and all the fancy cars driving around (wasting another good 30 minutes or so).
The doctor has arrived! Only not the one I’m supposed to see. This guy is supposedly her associate doctor. Or partner in crime, whatever you want to call it. How can I describe this guy? Think of the godfather. Pick any of the mafia men off there. That was him! Dr. Polano. Obviously Italian. Looked like he drove a black caddie, and his buddies call him “Skinny P”!
He had nothing but good things to say, about my bloodwork and the pregnancy. As he flipped through my charts he said, “Oh, we do have one problem.” I guess in Dr. Fry’s documentation of my sonagrams, the dates weren’t matching up. So he ordered me to have another sonagram!
They looked at the baby, and measured everything you could imagine! The circumference of his head, and around his belly. How big his stomach was. The brain size and brain mass. The placenta. The umbilical cord. How long the arms were.
They moved down to measure the legs. They looked around. I said, “Hmmm… that sure looks like a boy!” She said, at 14 weeks it’s pretty early. But she told me that she was pretty sure also that it was a boy! When it’s that early it can be a girl, but with the hormones and everything it can make the “little girl parts” swolen and therefore hard to distinguish between the two.
She told me though, that she would be VERY surprised if it WASN’T a little boy! So along with all my sonagram pictures I got yesterday, I got one with a little pee pee and an arrow pointing to it saying, “BOY PARTS!”
We got out of the office and to the elevator. I jumped up and down and had to celebrate in the fact that, “I KNEW IT WAS A BOY!” Everyone said I was crazy for thinking in the last picture that it was in fact a “HE” But, I was right, and I had to have a celebration dance! :o)
So, congrats to Uncle Matt, on your new Nephew! Bryson Edward Duncan!

I tried to put one of the sonagram pictures in the blog, but it wouldn’t let me. I’ll e-mail them to you.
Mom finally e-mailed me this afternoon, and told me to post on the blog because she couldn’t stand not to say anything!
Imagine that! :o)
